Spring Clean Your Gut with Kiko Vitals, This Spring

As we transition into a new season, we start seeing new life all around us. We should also embrace this as a time of opportunity to clean your gut, cleanse, re-set and release all the things that do not serve us.

We may link spring cleaning to clearing out the attic, but spring is actually an optimal time to practice some ‘spring cleaning’ within and show our gut some love. When you spring clean your gut, and include things that have a positive effect on digestive health, you’ll not only feel better, but you’ll walk a little lighter and feel more confident.

Kiko Vitals Bloat is all about feeling lighter, more self-confident and optimistic about the future of your health.  Our gut health has the power to impact everything, from our mood and immunity to our weight. This is why it’s important to make sure we give it the love and attention it deserves.

Kerri Taylor, Founder of Kiko Vitals says “Learn to listen to your gut, literally, because the more you can tune into it, the more you can really understand what it’s trying to tell you”?

At Kiko, we are applying Stephanie Rouillard, a Cape Town based Dietician’s 4R’s to reset our guts this Spring:

Tip #1

Remove the real offenders from your kitchen: out of sight, out of mind.

Say goodbye to the no-go’s: alcohol, refined sugar, man-made sweeteners, processed carbs, saturated fats and preservatives.

Stock up on whole, fresh foods.

Tip #2

Reinoculate your gut: get in a live food every day.

Start with fermented foods – start low, and go slow – some may aggravate gut symptoms. Feed that community of ‘gut bugs’ with fibre-rich foods – aim for 30g of fibre every day: chia seed should be at the top of your shopping list.

Tip # 3

Repair the gut lining: fuel your body with healing nutrients.

Choose foods rich in omega-3, clean protein and zinc. Boost your cellular health with polyphenols: aim for 2 different coloured vegetables at every meal. And, don’t forget to hydrate!

Tip # 4

Rebalance your lifestyle: have you ever heard of the gut-mind connection?

Stress is toxic to your gut. Restore balance by moving every day, getting outdoors, and seeing family or friends.

Remember to SLOW DOWN: practice mindfulness and eat slowly – chew thoroughly, away from distraction and with intention. Food is truly nature’s medicine.

Get this:

Gut healing is rarely fast or generic: it entails a thoughtful, personalised and evidence-based approach – which always requires your best effort, alongside your health professional’s expertise.

When you spring clean your gut and eat well, you’ll feel better, walk lighter, and be more confident.

Kiko Vitals embraces sustainability with their new packaging

These days businesses claiming to be sustainable has become a standard. But how many can back their claims and show practical uses of how they are really living up to their sustainable efforts? Kiko Vitals is a company that places great importance on the sustainability aspect of everything they do, from sourcing ingredients, manufacturing and extremely importantly – packaging. Recently updated, KV’s packaging is now even more sustainable than before. It also ticks the aesthetics box: it is the epitome of understated luxury, with its minimal look it adds something beautiful to a dressing table or bathroom shelf.

Kerri adds “Because wellness should be our best investment, it’s important to love the look and feel of our investments in our health”.

Kiko Vitals packaging has closed the sustainability loop with its newly acquired FSC certification (Forest Stewardship Council)

The packaging also uses LUX White Solid Bleached Sulphate Board (SBS), 100% Virgin Pulp, which is fully recyclable and FDA approved for direct contact with food.
